Unique feather of a MOOC is that it can be taken by anyone, anywhere in the world. You gain access to the course material and the professional guidance from the some of the best universities and professors in the world. The best part is that most of these courses are free and you can take them at your own convenience and pace.
MOOCs are being popular as they are threats to the traditional education. Traditional education can no longer assume that simply putting students in front of a lecturer and giving the occasional exam is sufficient to educate someone. The education system is redefining and MOOCs may be need of hour. MOOCs are doing better in many cases than traditional education does. If traditional education system will not adopt changes as per time, it will be replaced by a machine actually it is already being replaced by a machine.

Now-a-days, these courses seem to hold a lot of benefits considering the fact that some universities have started considering giving credits for certificates earned on successful completion of MOOC courses.
