Homework - Assignments

     Homework, or a homework assignment, is a set of tasks assigned to students by their teachers to be completed at home. The main motive of homework is to revise the content or other skills to be practiced.. Generally it includes reading, a writing, solving mathematical sums, etc. 

     An Italian pedagogue Roberto Nevilis is considered the real “inventor” of homework. He was the person who invented homework in far 1905 and made it a punishment to his students. Since time when was homework invented, this practice has become popular around the world.

Homework provides opportunities to students to work independently and to develop in them self-reliance. It helps students to develop the habit of studying regularly at home during their leisure time. Practice makes the man perfect. It is a link between the parent – teacher co-operation. The main purpose of the homework is to enable the student to revise his/her previous lesson and prepare the next one. It is also a remedial measure for academic weak students.

Ideal Homework Tips:

* Creative and easy that the student should do it independently.

* Supplementary and preparatory as far as possible.

* Never give homework as punishment.

* Vary the kinds of homework instead of mere copying question-answers..

* Don’t overload kids with homework.  It can ruin motivation

* Don’t demand homework done fully. There can be valid reasons for the failure in doing the homework. The teacher must find the reason and help the student.

     Let’s take and make Homework as a creative technique which will be enjoyed by students and its purpose will be fulfilled.
