The Glance of Virtual School
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought tremendous change in education worldwide.
Suddenly all teachers and students were forced to be out of the classrooms. But education can’t be paused so all educational institutions initiated teaching by opting e-learning on various digital platforms. Transitioning to online in such a short period of time was really challenging because the entire world was flipped upside down.
For teachers, the shift from traditional (offline) teaching to online teaching was 3600rotation. They had to rethink- restructure lesson plans and teaching methods. For many of them, it was a big task to adopt the technology.
Of course, a teacher is a multitasking personality with talents, skills and dedication. Immediately all teachers changed their years and years of teaching methods (styles) and implemented new ones to reach their students. ‘Sharing is Caring’ has become a password of connecting each other for resources. Creative brains shared their new teaching aids (material like PPTs, Videos, etc) with their colleagues and friends.
Educational Institutions provided various digital platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc to their teachers to conduct online school. They enabled their teachers to handle digital devices and apps.
Here, we should appreciate the role of parents and students in executing online teaching-learning successfully. Parents availed the devices like mobile, tab and laptop, desktop to their wards with an internet connection. As their teachers, students too adopted the online education system instantly.
IES CPV is a leading school in Dombivli. We have a history of excellence in the overall holistic development of students in addition to the best education. We also provide equal importance to co-curricular activities like sports, self-development, etc. During virtual school, we gave equal importance to co-curricular activities along with academic excellence. Teachers planned various co-curricular activities creatively under the guidance and motivation of the headmaster. Students participated actively in all activities. While conducting all these activities, ‘equal opportunity to every child and no teaching time will be consumed’- this principle was strictly followed. Sessions were begun before 15 minutes so regular teaching time will not be utilized.
Few of co-curricular activities are……
· Thought of the Day:
Every day after prayer, a student shared a thought of the day with illustration.
The aim of this activity: To enable all students active to participate in online classes.
Importance of the Day:
Important day/festivals were celebrated. Students presented the importance and information of the day through PPTs, Speech, etc.
The aim of this activity: To enrich all students with our social, economic, cultural and political achievements.
Virtual Annual Day Celebration
Annual Day Celebration is one of the mega events of the school. So we decided to celebrate it virtually. The theme of cultural performances was assigned to students as per standards in advance. Practice and guidance done after regular teaching sessions (mostly in the evening or holidays). The response and performance of students were remarkable.
After regular sessions, the annual cultural day celebrated standard wise.
During normal school times, students eagerly wait for recess (Break Time). In this pandemic situation, we brought the classroom at their homes through virtual teaching. But students missed their recess (Break Time) so we decided to have the community lunch. After our online regular sessions, students and teachers shared their lunch time virtually. Students, teachers and even parents participated in this activity enthusiastically and thoroughly enjoyed it sharing their fun moments together.
The aim of this activity: To create fun in online school and to have lunch together.
Sports inculcate the spirit of positive challenges & sportsmanship among the students and prepare them for the life ahead. Our students actively participate in different sports competitions and win medals, certificates and trophies at State, National and International Level.
In this pandemic situation, we encourage students to be fit physically through virtual PT sessions. We planned virtual sports day celebration. Students demonstrated warm up, Yogas, various sports activities and shared their views on importance of physical fitness.
The aim of this activity : To inculcate the qualities like team spirit, selflessness cooperation among students.
Exhibitions – Science, Geography
The exhibition is a medium through which students can represent their learning and hidden talent among others. We designed a exhibition subject wise- Science, Geography and Language Activities. Students displayed the working and non-working models of the respective subjects. For English Language Activity, appreciation of a poem, debate, discussion, tongue twisters, etc were presented in creative manner by students.
The aim of this activity: To create interest about the subject among students.
